MD Research Center is an independent research institution dedicated to the development of knowledge in the fields of Islamic Studies, Islamic Philanthropy, Media and Cultural Studies. Established under Notarial Deed No. 117 dated July 19, 2024, this institution was founded with a spirit of creating an intellectual space that significantly contributes to enhancing the quality of humanities and societal welfare at the local, national, and global levels. As a research institution focused on academic excellence and social benefit, MD Research Center is committed to bridging the values of Islam, humanism, and critical scholarship in addressing contemporary challenges. We believe that strengthening the understanding of religion, culture, and contemporary social dynamics must be based on solid, open, and inclusive research. Since its establishment, MD Research Center has initiated and managed various cutting-edge research projects, both completed and ongoing, with support from national and international grants. The results of these studies have been published in reputable journals and have become essential references in the development of knowledge in their respective fields. Our research groups actively explore various dimensions of social transformation, including how religious institutions and democracy adapt beyond the nation-state, and how media and culture shape the way contemporary societies think. We are driven by a commitment to produce high-quality data, conduct research oriented towards public interest, and make meaningful contributions to knowledge-based policymaking. As part of our dedication to strengthening the scholarly community, MD Research Center publishes three scholarly journals: Surau Journal of Islamic Studies, which focuses on contemporary Islamic thought, religious studies, and social transformation based on Islamic values; Asian Journal of Islamic Philanthropy and Citizen Engagement, which explores the practice and theory of Islamic philanthropy and citizen participation in social development; and Asian Journal of Media and Culture, which provides critical studies on media, popular culture, and identity in contemporary Asian societies. MD Research Center has an extensive network with academic institutions and independent research organizations and has formed strategic partnerships through memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with various universities and international organizations. We believe that by specializing in social-religious and cultural studies, MD Research Center is in a strong position not only to understand the dynamics of changing times but also to enrich methodologies and perspectives in addressing current and future humanistic challenges.
