MD Research Center is an independent research and academic publishing institution dedicated to advancing knowledge in the fields of Islamic Studies, Islamic Philanthropy, and Media and Cultural Studies. Legally established as a Commanditaire Vennootschap (CV) under Notarial Deed No. 117 dated 19 July 2024 and registered with the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia under Registration No. AHU-0055026-AH.01.14 of 2024, MD Research Center is committed to providing a professional and intellectually rigorous platform for research, scholarly publishing, and academic collaboration.
Based in Bantul Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta, Indonesia, MD Research Center was established to contribute to the advancement of knowledge and society through rigorous, ethical, and interdisciplinary scholarship. The institution promotes research that brings together Islamic perspectives, humanistic inquiry, critical scholarship, and contemporary social analysis to address emerging academic and societal challenges.
MD Research Center conducts and supports research, scholarly publishing, academic collaboration, and research dissemination across its areas of specialization. Its research activities address contemporary issues concerning religion, society, Islamic philanthropy, democracy, media, culture, identity, citizenship, and social transformation. Research findings are disseminated through scholarly publications, academic forums, and other appropriate channels to contribute to the advancement of knowledge and informed public discourse.
As an academic publisher, MD Research Center publishes peer-reviewed scholarly journals in Islamic Studies, Islamic Philanthropy, Media and Cultural Studies, and related interdisciplinary fields. The institution currently publishes Surau Journal of Islamic Studies, Asian Journal of Islamic Philanthropy and Citizen Engagement, and Asian Journal of Media and Culture. Each journal maintains its own editorial structure, policies, and scholarly standards in accordance with its respective aims and scope.
MD Research Center respects and safeguards the editorial independence of all journals it publishes. Editorial decisions are made solely by the Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Board of each journal, based on scholarly merit, academic contribution, relevance to the journal's scope, and the outcome of an objective peer-review process. The publisher does not interfere with editorial decisions and respects the academic autonomy of each journal's editorial team.
MD Research Center is supported by researchers, academics, editors, reviewers, and professional collaborators with expertise in research, scholarly publishing, and academic management. The institution maintains academic networks and strategic collaborations with universities, research institutions, and other scholarly organizations to promote research excellence, scholarly exchange, and the dissemination of knowledge.
